During the research process of for this website, I have reflected on the importance of checks and balances in our education system. Creating spaces for communities to resist divisive policy provides an additional element of accountability to education.

In the words of Kevin Kumashiro: “progressive change happens not merely when a strong individual assumes a position of leadership, but more importantly, when each one of us assumes the responsibility to lead, to take action, to build a movement."

Much more work need to be done at both the grass-roots and academic levels in order for education to be redefined to focus on the local rather than global level. It is humanities responsibility to collaborate in order to create a more just world.
